Cartagena, Colombia

Crews of Njorth Clan, Bonnie Doon, Mir and Champagne This place is astounding. I know I say that about everywhere but Cartagena feels like home. We arrived to the sound of a viking horn from our friends Henri & Siska on Lille Ø and spent the first week exploring the city with them. The place is rocking at night so colourful, clean and the locals are really friendly. The food and booze was cheap and everywhere made a perfect margarita. Buying the tasty ants. They go great with a margarita Local delicacy, I love them A lot of history here. We visited the torture museum, an ironically beautiful building in the old town, were they conducted the Spanish inquisition. I knew nothing about the Spanish inquisition. Quite disturbing especially some of the devices used. We visited the  Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas with Clare from Champagne. Martinique and Guadeloupe

I broke the outboard.  Matty came to visit and we had a great week exploring Martinique. Starting with Richie and Matty climbing mount Pelée, the volcano that erupted in 1932 and killed 30,000 people. Higher than Ben Nevis, it was a long hard climb and the 2 of them were very quiet that night. Mandy & I didn't go because we had boat jobs to do. We had a few great nights out in Fort De France. Found the equivalent of Lark Lane.  Richie joined in with the local chess club and just got beaten by toothless Charles. They were all so friendly. The north end of the Island was the most Jurassic park yet, you could just imagine a T-rex coming out of the trees. We had to cut the drone flight short as it rained Then we walked up to a lovely waterfall through the jungle. Some bits of it did remind us of Brotherton park, green and muddy but very humid. Beautiful Bequai - What I thought the Caribbean would be like

We left Martinique and had a very pleasant sail to the very south of St Lucia where we took a mooring ball by the Pitons for 2 days while Mandy worked and I fitted my Mantis swivel. (The strongest link in my anchor chain - that's what it said on the box). We didn't go ashore as we weren't checked in to St Lucia but the Piton's were pretty grand. Then it was off on a overnighter to Bequai. We flew, beam reach, 20 knots of wind. We're defo getting the hang of this boat. The swell was from the East and between islands it got a bit choppy until we hit a massive patch of sargasm. It deadened the swell making it very quiet and smooth sailing. The only problem was sargasm popped up in all the sinks. Good job the engine or genny wasn't on, I think it may have blocked the inlets. We arrived in Bequai just before sunrise and bobbed about for an hour or so waiting for some light so we could find an anchorage not near any mooring balls. I'd never heard of Bequai, it was...
