Barbados

Nothing like a pina colada after crossing an ocean (Boat in background)

Our first anchorage and landfall, Port St Charles. As pretty as the brochures.

Barbados is certainly living up to its reputation. The locals are so friendly they make me smile every time I talk to someone. For example I was walking down the road with Richie and this old Rasta walking towards us said, with a big smile..... "Farda an Sun, I"

So many memories

Every sunset is amazing

Nikki volunteered to go up the mast to do some maintenance and checks. It is so useful having a climbing instructor on board.

Tom, Nikki's fella, came to visit and to escort my daughter home.
The Caboose, great beach bar in the shade. Delicious Rum punches and fish cutters.

We had a slight mishap when going out one night. When trying to get to the beach a roller caught the dinghy and threw us all out. Mandy and Nikki where submerged in their going out dresses and makeup and the dinghy was completely waterlogged so we had to cut short our evening out and returned to the boat. No one was hurt but we wont be trying to get ashore on rolley beaches in the dark again.

We had a grand day out to a very old working sugar plantation/Distillery called St Nicolas's abbey. A Jacobian house built in the 1600s set in some beautiful lush green grounds with a working steam train and steam press fueled by the dried sugar cane husks. And wild monkeys.
Can you see the monkey?

Steam press built in Derby in the 1800s

They even had an original working Thomas crapper toilet. My life is now complete.

Of course we all bought some of their rum.

Back to the boat and a sight you don't see every day, swimming horses - sea horses?

Then Nick and Jen arrived for our sail to Martinique and Nikki and Tom went home :-(

To be continued..........
